Support & FAQ

Stuck? The fastest route is a GitHub issue — include both phone models, Android versions, and what the phone rows said at the time.

Do I need internet on the hill?
No. Control works over Bluetooth alone; video needs only a shared local Wi‑Fi — your hotspot or a portable router. Resort Wi‑Fi works too, but some block phone-to-phone traffic; the hotspot is the reliable option.
It says “waiting for Wi‑Fi link”. What is wrong?
The phones are connected over Bluetooth but cannot reach each other over TCP. Join the same Wi‑Fi as the other phone, or turn on this phone's hotspot and join it from the other phone. The card under the phone list links straight to the right settings screen.
A camera was out of range when I pressed REC. Did it miss the run?
No — that is the point of arming. A paired phone that was away starts the same run when it next comes into range, once, until the run ends. The button reads “Armed · waiting for phones” while it waits.
How do clips get to my phone?
Automatically, newest run first: thumbnail, then proxy, then original, resumable chunk by chunk across passes. “N clips to sync” counts runs whose proxy you don't hold yet — originals keep arriving quietly in the background.
Where are my videos stored?
Originals live in the system gallery under Movies/pose.video/, named per run and angle. Proxies and thumbnails stay inside the app. If a gallery file is deleted from another app, the asset is marked missing and never served again.
How is the battery hit?
The camera idles screen-off on BLE and only powers the sensor and encoder for the run itself. Default profile is Battery Saver 1080p30; max duration caps every run at 30–90 s. Sync is lazy by design.
Does it work with iPhones?
Not yet — iOS is design-only while Android is field-tested. The protocol already assumes mixed sessions, so an iPhone peer joins the same way when the app ships.
Someone I don't know is on the same Wi‑Fi. Can they watch my footage?
No. The LAN handshake fails without your pairing key, media is encrypted, and every chunk is hash-verified. See the privacy policy and the threat-model.md in the repo.
How do I unpair a phone?
Long-press its row → Forget. Pairing needs physical QR scanning, so a forgotten phone cannot silently rejoin.
How do I report a bug?
Open an issue with: both phone models and OS versions, the steps, what you expected, and what the rows/notification showed. The app's developer panel (long-press the version in Settings) has the connection details that help most.
